ANCSA provided that 43.7 million acres of public land are to be transferred to the regional and village corporations. Tozitna's share will be approximately 139,126 acres of timber and surface estate. As of September 30, 2012, Tozitna has received interim conveyance to 127,092 acres of land (surface rights only). Doyon, Ltd. owns the subsurface rights to Tozitna lands. Of the 43.7 million acres, Doyon, Limited is entitled to 12.5 million acres, making it the largest private landowner in Alaska and one of the largest private landowners in North America.
